Nationals Member for Orange Russell Turner today congratulated Simon John Events’ Business Manager Ellie Brown on being named the 2011 Orange Electorate Woman of the Year, in recognition of her valuable contribution to the Central West’s business community.
“Ellie has been a fantastic advocate for women in many areas. She has strong leadership qualities and has been an inspiration to other young women in the community,” Mr Turner said.
“Ellie has been an owner operator of various small businesses for over 15 years and knows first-hand the challenges that small businesses face day in and day out.
“Ellie is a wonderful role model for other women and young girls – meeting family responsibilities as a mother while acting as a strong advocate for business growth and prosperity in regional areas.
“She has inspired other women to open their own business and helped mentor many of these new business owners.
“Ellie was formerly the President of the Orange Chamber of Commerce for five years. Since then she has established the Central West Business Chamber, where she has taken on the role of President.
“Her lobbying efforts with all levels of government and work with various community groups have helped shape the agenda for business growth and reform.
“Admirably, Ellie also finds time during her hectic schedule to work at the coalface of her own business, Sheeradiance.
“I congratulate Ellie on all her achievements and sincerely thank her for the contribution she has made to Orange and the wider community throughout the Central West,” Mr Turner said.
“The NSW Woman of the Year Award is a wonderful way to recognise all women who have made a difference to the lives of others and demonstrated excellence in their field.
